The Elegant Woman: For the Woman Who Wants to Increase Her Elegance and Beauty, by Eunice Leong. 2013

I'm always interested in historical things, including dress, but I imagine I wouldn't much care for a lot of Ms Leong's ideas. I approve of dressing cleanly and decently and showing good manners and courtesy. I do not approve of women making themselves small and "nice" and quiet. We're past that. Nothing wrong with a classical education, though - as long as you're open-minded about non-classical stuff!

I get stared at every time I say please and thank you to the clerks who help me in stores around here!

It's a bit disconcerting when I look up and realize that everyone within hearing range is staring at me while I tell the clerk "thank you for helping me".

I'm clean but I'm not elegantly dressed. Hopefully that's going to change over the winter months--once I get busy sewing.
