I don't like the idea that I should buy Navi, or any loved one, stuff for Valentine's Day (or in Ireland St. Valentine's Day). But what I dislike more are people who go out and make a statement and proclaim that they're completely against this day and everything about it. It's so cliched. I don't know if it's hypocritical or just plain ignorant to ( Read more... )

I think a nice dinner and a long massage are awesome ways of displaying love/affection/intimacy etc.

I like celebrating all sorts of things. I think how you like to celebrate is more important than tradition tho.

for me, Valentine's day is just another Hallmark holiday. A ploy to get people to buy their spouses/children things to say that they love them. I'm a believer that you should be able to do this any day of the year, not just one specified day. I'm not saying that what you're doing for Navi tonight is wrong, I'm sure she'll really appreciate it.

I have other reasons to not celebrate Valentine's day but I won't get into that here. I'll likely make a post about it in my journal.

I celebrate Christmas yes, but it's more spending time with family and loved ones. Sure there's gifts but it's only 1 simple gift for each of my parents and my brother. And if I'm dating someone, then a gift for him.

Wrote a reply. It didn't save. Hate when that happens.

I agree with what you are saying. I don't like it when both lovers and haters announce their Valentines views. But more so the haters for whatever reason. If you're into it, cool. If not, that's cool too. Just don't go bragging.

I'm sorry to hear Feb 14th has a bad memory for you and your family. Your uncle sounded like a good man.
