Okay, so at Java Hutt today we got back onto the discussion of the Katie Koestner thing. Another guy (a stranger) got involved. Gabe and I explained the situation and discussed for a while. This resulted in him inquiring about our ages and then replying to "discuss it with him in about five years". Now that makes me beyond angry, because what ( Read more... )

wow. very good with the murder/manslaughter thing. Still something pretty unforgivable, but has sort of a degree of unforgivability. The perp should still be guilty and spend more than a couple years in jail, but i think you're on to something. A matter of degrees.

I think the issue in what you said was this: "But forgive me for thinking that such an event isn't half as traumatizing or emotionally scarring as the first one. She didn't deserve it, but that isn't to say she didn't somewhere in the back of her mind expect it. Why would she have gone with John into a private room somewhere if she didn't expect for something to happen?"

The event may be just as traumatizing to both women regardless of the man's intentions...

militant

thats the word being used to describe me too...

i feel tho that with the murder/manslaughter that with that it's different with the intent. Rape is generally traumatic and the victim might not clearly remember and be able to testify due to mental capacity. with murder they cant cuz they're dead. that's why i think theres just one set of rules and that's that with sexual assault. we need to talk about this tho asap. like with DOD/senior speak.

militant is sexy. never apoligize for having views and speaking your mind. silence doesn't solve anything and not speaking up lets people thihnk you agree with them. Your voice, Katie, your voice needs to be heard.

i think that to some extent the intent is taken into account for example that guy got suspended from school till she graduated but he didnt have to register as a sex offender. if the intent is obviously to rape then usually u get put on that listening and have a sticker and u stay on the list for like 36 years i think it is. so to some degree the charges differ upon intent and seriousness of the case. and whoever that guy was who said that stuff to u is stupid and full of bs to think hes high and mighty cause he's older. older does not always = wiser. just look at my bro...
