When life gives you melons, make memes.

I'm a lot like the people I'm stealing this meme from. More often than not, I tend to be pretty honest with the people I interact with. I am however, also notoriously elusive about volunteering information about the person I am and/or the workings of my mind unless I see reason to. If there's something that you've always wanted to ask me (or really ( Read more... )

*smirk...Well, it's a combination of things, really:

1. I was raised British. While I didn't really get a sexy accent out of the deal (well, not a full one, anyway), I did learn most of the other mannerisms and behaviors that would make one a proper gentleman. I was in the boarding school from the time I was about three and a half until I was almost twelve, so by that time, I'd had it beaten into me (literally ;.;) that I had to remain polite and civil at all times, regardless of how I might feel about the situation at hand.

2. I'm an older brother. While my sister and I were growing up, she was, for lack of a better term, hellspawn. Being that she was the youngest, she was really able to get away with whatever she wanted. I was, on the other hand, punished pretty harshly if I ever did anything out of line, as I was the one that was supposed to be "setting an example". In addition to giving me an inexhaustable supply of patience, I had to learn to be nice to someone I found myself depising quite often, if only for survival's sake ( ... )

Why, yes, yes, you can (now that you have IIDX and all). I'm all for cute girls taking me home and using me as decorative furniture.

When did you start building the silly, whimsical, attention-getting persona that you use for most of your interaction with people? What made you decide you wanted to be that kind of person? (Note: I do not intend to imply that your persona is a bad thing in any way--you're a lot of fun to be around, and I love you to death and wouldn't change things at all.)

Because I know a lot of it is... not at all an act, no, but a persona, a subset of your overall personality matrix that you present to the world as 'you'. I mean, that's true of everyone, but I get the sense yours is a little more deliberate of a choice than most people, much as much of my own public persona was quite deliberately constrcuted.

I ask because I do know when I started building my own persona and what made me decide who and what I wanted to become, and it makes me curious when and where *your* decision points were.

I had no idea where this idea came from, so I dug a little deeper, and before I knew it, I'd finished my children's book, complete with illustrations ( ... )

Yes, I think I found my answer. I'll try to respond more coherently later. But regardless, thank you. :)

That we did! Still, it's only fair that I give my other friends a chance to pry into the darkest recesses of my soul.

Is the Christmas present I got you awesome?

Given that you know my interests better than just about anyone else I know, I'm going to say that's a resounding "YES!".

Hhmm, another question,

Why no love for AIM? =(

It's really two things:

1. Laziness.
2. Time issues.

One one hand, I really do like going on AIM and talking to super-awesome friends. On the other hand though. Getting on AIM can be particulary difficult sometimes, as I tend to do most of my AIM usage at work. With my new boss and all, AIM makes it harder to disguise the fact that I'm slacking off. Couple that with the fact that I've got a ton of stuff to amuse me at home (music, DDR, IIDX, RPGs, etc.), and I don't end up going on as much as I'd like. I'm planning on making "GET ON AIM MORE, DOOFUS!" one of my New Years' Resolutions for next year. Let's hope that works. Hehehe.

How come you never visit Flagstaff? :-P

Also--what level is excalipick?

1. Honestly? Because I don't want to have to put with the drive up there because the traffic is nuts and the weather is cold. That and I start drivin' like a crazy man when I'm lost, which can never be a good thing. I mean, I know the directions to Flagstaff...in thory: "Get on the I-17 North, and keep at it 'til it ends". Given the crazy drivers and the drops, I don't want to have to put up with all that. Oh, yeah. That and it's cold. Still. I really do miss you, so I might find myself making the trip out there all the same sometime in the distant future, when I finally have free time again.

2. Ninety-two! *beams* Crazy, huh? We're going to need to hang out one day so that you can see my Excalipick schtick in person. <3
