That Golden Statue in your icon here. What is it, and what does it mean to you?

Ken, of theatresumthing and Ken, and I share an interest in Buddha imagery. Last year, when theatresumthing, Ken and I went to Las Vegas, we stayed at a rented house where I met fellow LJ'ers uberdaddybear, polomex, dakoospt, and a few others. Ken and I made a half-hearted pact to find a buddha statue in Vegas, and we stumbled upon this one. It's a Buddha shrine directly in front of Ceaser's Palace, placed there by some Thai Buddhist monks some few years ago. It's one of the most genuine things I've ever seen in Vegas. To me, it symbolizes genuine emotion and spirituality in a world where seemingly little exists. -- But even that statement, itself, is a Buddhist koan to ponder.

Wow. Lots of biggies.

1) Do you consider yourself a shy, outgoing or reserved person? Why? Yes. Socially, I'm quite shy and reserved. I think I took "seen and not heard" too much to heart as a kid. Otherwise, I'm very outgoing. I like to challenge myself to rack-up personal accomplishments (dubious, or otherwise).

2) What do you do for a living? Artist and computer geek. No, really: I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. I sell my artwork, write and sell my own software, and also work as a software tester/quality assurance for a small software company.

3) What do you hold most precious in life? There is nothing more precious than life itself. Without life, you can accomplish nothing. And no cause is worth martyring yourself over; it just goes back to the statement that you can't accomplish anything dead.

4) What single characteristic in another person turns you off the most? Whininess. Snobbery. Miserablism. Oh dear, I can't stop.... Laziness. Rudeness. Selfishness. Thievery. Conceitedness. Inability to listen to others or take ( ... )

So you're coming to Vancouver. Would you be interested in a coffee/drink/dinner?

What drives you, personally, to journal?

So you're coming to Vancouver. Would you be interested in a coffee/drink/dinner? Yes!

What drives you, personally, to journal? I used to have regular pen pals growing up and through college, up to maybe 10 or 15 years ago. It sort of comes naturally for me to want to write down and share my ideas and such. LJ has helped me do some of that. Also, I can often express through written statement that which I stammer to say openly. I'm a lot more eloquent on the page/screen than I am in person. And in group conversation, my voice often goes unheard unless I talk very loudly (wrong frequency, I guess) -- and I hate having that "loud-person" image.

What's your favorite non-alcoholic drink?

What's your favorite cocktail?

Most frequently used cuss word?

For all the hype that is building for Hilary as Prez, do you really think that she could live up to it?

Aside from Bush, who is the biggest threat to our country in the current Administration?

What's your favorite non-alcoholic drink? Orange juice.

What's your favorite cocktail? Three-olive martini. Dry. Shaken, not stirred. Dirty (with olive juice).

Most frequently used cuss word? Fuck.

For all the hype that is building for Hilary as Prez, do you really think that she could live up to it? No. I'd rather see an outsider. A pragmatist. A moderate/liberal who would tear down tax breaks for corporations and the rich, and eliminate farm subsidies, yet push for more free trade and encourage small and medium business; support personal freedoms and minorities, and health-care reform, but not increase welfare or promote government-sponsored social programs. Someone who'll reach out to all religions and beliefs, and not just those bible-thumping fundies. And someone who'd work to regain our international status as a bastion of democratic freedom while being tough on terrorists; someone to instill confidence in our policies abroad instead of distrust or hate. Someone who could see that economic sanctions hurt us more than them. ( ... )

Are the Three olives for Nutritional value? And is it a Vodka or Gin Dirty Martini?

Oh, vodka, of course. Only vodka.

And, I just like olives.... Although someone reminded me recently of a Truman Capote quip: "I always thought the olive WAS the appetizer."

Can I do you??? :) Only with a note from your parents.

Whats your best memory of the Vegas trip? Oh, gosh, there are all so many (not in any specific order): dakoopst's butt greeting me on the patio one morning as he was laying on his stomach sunning. Your excellent chicken dinner. Jozer massaging theatresumthing's head with his goatee. Climbing Red Rock Canyon with dakoopst, theatresumthing, and Ken. Seeing 'O' for the second time from the third row from front. Seeing 'Ka'. Playing video blackjack for two hours on the same $20 at the Mirage while I was waiting for Chester and Ken to get out of Celine Dion. Playing footsie with everyone in the somewhat scary waters of the hot tub at the house we rented. Taking photos of the stip (including the Buddha statue in my avatar). Chester getting lost on his way to the Las Vegas Eagle and walking for the entire 3 hours I was gone to see 'O'. The whole group going to the buffet. Dinner at Chester, Ken, and my friend's, Ron and Tim's, which included hot tubbing before getting on the plane to come home. Figuring out that I had drowned out ( ... )
