... but also a girl."

So this year, I tried to do some homemade gifts under the (apparently mistaken) assumption that overall it'd cost me less. Still the gifts went over well. Everyone who got a recipe book immediately flipped through it and marked recipes to try.

And below the cut is the gift I made for my future mother-in-law. )

That is very awesome! I made most of the presents I gave this year and they turned out pretty well too. Even though it does take a lot of time and sometimes costs more than if you had just bought a present it always feels good to give away something you made.

As a side note, could you give Janet a call sometime, she accidentally called me the other day and it sounds like she really needs a friend right now. I have told her I will call her regularly, and she said she will call back, but I think she could really use someone close by who could drop by and just give her a hug now and then.

I figured your post about the random call from a friend was from Janet. I stopped by on the 23rd with a birthday present for her and a Christmas present for the both of them. I spent about an hour and a half with her, and promised to come see them again soon. She's looking pretty frazzled.

They're kinda strapped right now too, so I was thinking about buying $20-30 worth of cheap staple foods (pastas, rice, canned goods, etc.) to bring over, since it'd probably help them out. Get as much volume as possible for the money, sort of thing. I've done that before for friends in need, and it's always been appreciated. I'm just a little concerned that if I do that, Janet will break down and have a crying fit on the spot. She really is on an emotional edge.

Yea, she probably would start crying. I really wish I could be out there for her, last time I talked to her it sounded like she was about to give up on the marriage. Not like I haven't heard that before...I know she would probably appreciate anything that can be done for them. I don't know how much support she is getting from Wyatt. Thank you for stopping by and checking up on her. I worry about her.

Thanks. I'm contemplating making one for myself one of these days.
