We made a cat toy out of a stick, a long bit of yarn and a chunk of rabbit fur swiped from my craft bin.
Shade would launch himself off the back of the couch going after that thing. The only toy that was better than the "mousie" was Donna's rabbit puppet, which became the "monster bunny" and would attack Shade and induce him to high levels of violence against the puppet. Granted, you needed to pull your hand out of the puppet by the time he got that far, or you'd end up with stitches. He'd also sneak up and attack it if it was innocently lying in the middle of the floor...
Nah, your cats sound quite normal to me. Some cats adore fur toys. Morphia, a cat I had awhile ago, adored those cardboard mice that had rabbit fur glued to them. She would bat those around the house for hours
Sadly enough, Catnip, while my cats think it's a nice thing to snuggle on a cold night (better not to ask I think) doesn't get them all hyper like. There is one thing that does manage to do that for them though.
