The cynical side of me is trying very hard to not to snicker at the school-girl style giddiness that Obama groupies are feeling today.

But as much as I have to roll my eyes at all the Obama-gasms, I have to admit that it is cool to finally see a leader emerge that people can get excited about.   I hope he does good things with his new mandate....I ( Read more... )

I take it you were more in favor for McCain. I didn't think he was too bad, however, I just couldn't stomach Palin. She is totally opposite of most anything I believe in and frankly, she frightened me.

Now I am a bit afraid that some white supremacist will try to off Obama. A woman I work with got a text message from an unknown number that intimated someone was trying to rally up support to assassinate him. People truly frighten me when they can't see past the color of one's skin.

nope...I voted Libertarian. I'm fairly convinced there isn't much difference between the Repubs and Dems, and that they conspire together to give us the illusion that it matters which party wins.

I had similar thoughts though, linking the charisma of Kennedy and Obama. If Obama really *is* about change, especially when it comes to reducing our military reach and involvement abroad, then the parallels will be very striking, as Kennedy was taken out (many believe) because he was trying to take us out of Vietnam.

I feel cautiously optimistic as well but for me it's less about Obama and more about the state our country is in financially. I think in an ideal economy Obama would be excellent but with the economy the way it is I think he'll be fair at best. In my case I voted for him not just because I believe he'd make an excellent president and will be able to improve things and if not everything can improve in 4 years I see him as a president that could atleast keep most problems are country is having from getting worse. *shrug* Here's hoping he proves me right!

I couldn't stand Palin either and I fear for Obama's safety as well but for right now I'm happy.
