If you couldn't guess by my new icon, Buttercup's red riding habit is about to be in the works! I found the *perfect* fabric today at JoAnns, but I forgot my 40% off coupon, so I decided to go back next weekend. I also looked for McCall's 4172, which padawansguide suggested, but, they didn't have it, but I found it on ebay, so all is good. I bought more ( Read more... ) -

I've been looking at more germans lately, and I saw something very interesting...another costumer did a lovely german gown, and used cutwork as an embellishment on the guards of the skirt. I *really* like this, and would love to adapt the idea for my dress, but I haven't been able to find documentation for this style....anyone have any leads? -

I'm almost finished with all my Ginny Weasley stuff! I got my robe in the mail yesterday, and I like it. Plus, Devan, the girl that runs cloaksforandrew is a total sweetheart and overnighted it to make sure it'd get to me on time. So, definitely reccomending them. Ugh. Fabric dilemma.
Because I have terrible costume ADD and Jackie's been all inspiring and stuff, I feel like babbling about historical stuff. I've been trying to decide on a suitable fabric for my german gown, and I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, I found a good source for all weights of linen in some gorgeous colors and at good prices, but I've also found a place ( Read more... ) -
Wand
So I'm sitting here, taking a tiny little break from the day's activity. What would that be, I hear the masses clamoring? Making my wand. I'm currently at the annoying-will-take-hours-monotonous part, sanding the end into the proper shape. Ah, sanding. I think 150 is too fine, I'm going to go see if there's any courser sandpaper out in the garage. -

You know you've been sewing too long and should probably call it quits for the evening when you find yourself cutting out interfacing and thinking "hmm...I wonder if I can iron this to remove the wrinkles and make pinning and cutting easier ( Read more... )
