Gripe

Ok, I'm irritated.  Apparently some people on my facebook who are my husband's relatives feel the need to talk about me behind my back.  Such people are Christian, church going sorts of folks.  Now me and hubby totally disagree on religion and theology, but he knew I was not Christian from the start and accepted that.  Indeed he is irritated too ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, families suck. *hugs* I can empathise truly. When my ex and I lived in Seattle, my husband and I had to keep our Pagan materials stashed so that the family did not see them. Which is fine by me. My own family wasn't much better on their support either.

Why does your family outside of your husband even have to KNOW what religion you practice? What business is it of theirs? Although, I suppose that living with them, they could say the old, 'youre under our roof,' type of thing.

The MIL lives in our house. She needs a little help with money and living expenses. We need help with childcare. The other Christian relatives have been looking up stuff I say on facebook, such as Heka.

Hey, you practice witchraft - you can hex 'em, threefold rule be damned...just kidding! I do not advocate using witchcraft in any negative fashion whatsoever. Even if it's justified. Why should they care what religion you practice? As long as you and hubby are working it out or OK with it, it's really no concern of theirs.

*hugs* I wish people like that would mind their own business. Religion and belief is a personal thing and there is no need to belittle someone because they believe differently.

I'm kind of going through the same thing with my fiance's parents. They don't know I'm KO but the way they talk about non-Christians makes me not want to bring it up with them ever.

I have a lot of mega Christian relatives on my Facebook, too. I didn't realize HOW Christian until I got near constant "Praise the Lord!!" and "What Bible Verse are You??" posts. It IS a bit intimidating for me to come out as KO in the face of all that. But, my philosophy on it is, if they find out, they find out, I neither hide my beliefs nor do I advertise. I figure, with my husband being non-Christian as well, and with us wanting to raise our child in OUR religions, the family will find out sooner or later...This last summer I met a pagan dad who thinks his son has been secretly baptized at least twice by well-meaning Catholic relatives, so I've been warned...
