8 Days

Jan 06, 2010 00:17

So, my break lasted 8 days until things hit the fan to the point where I have to poke my nose in and kibosh stuff. Now, I'll admit I don't know everything of what all's going on, but I've heard enough ( Read more... )

its stuff like this that is keeping some of us away and at this point not likely to return at any point unless there is a forum system installed, to where avoidance of individuals is easier.

unfortunately there are parties all around which are making it difficult for the forums to come to fruition and its frustrating and almost unfair. to those of us lurking, to dat, and to yourselves.

and i'd like to say, before people go off the handle and say they themselves are being bullied and persecuted - they need to review all events coming to this. not just from 8 days prior, but even further. defensiveness, the my-way-or-the-highway, the sheer amount of negative insanity.

please just sit back and relax, pull back all claws, breathe and remember we're all here to enjoy. and if the people on a whole are not enjoying themselves, if everyone in not on equal footing, and the like, then this is a failure.

Ehhhh... I think this person can understand that. It sounds more like a request for people to chill, not take the RP so seriously, and thus not annoy each other (and me!) as much~

*silly Sues style narrator voice* And thus it was that Databank's heart shrunk 2 sizes that day. */silly Sues style narrator voice*

Ze Internet once again shows that it has too many idiots within it. Sounds like you could use an extra pair of hands, and I happen to be bored. Any way I can assist?

Eh, I've been thinking about getting a co-admin/lead moderator (not sure what I'd call the position), but... well, to be honest while I do like many players, and think that those I've appointed as mods can do the job as mods, beyond that...

I don't really wish that on Flare, who's the only person on the list I'd really consider to be a senior mod. So I'd need someone wise in the ways of modding RP forums (at least somewhat), who I know, has some free time, and hasn't been yanked into drama yet. Maybe a 'coon... I'll talk to you later about this.

Righty.

On an semi-related note, seems the account I remember spawning several months back was either deleted from my neglect to use it or I've forgotten the associated email with it. Oh well. *spawns another*

Whoa whoa whoa, let's not do anything hasty here man. LF has helped bring people back together after the Dream shut down. Hell, it helped me reconnect with someone I haven't seen for two or three years now, when I had no other way of reaching them.

Don't stress out so much, 'kay? Easier said than done, I know. :/

What I've seen of the site so far is shaping up well, even if things are a little bare bones right now. But that doesn't matter too much, because it -works-, and that is what matters. More importantly, it works well.

Don't be afraid to ask others for help with work on the site or stuff.

Well, this is a lot like running a town. When it's first founded and it's small and you talk to everyone yourself on a daily basis it's easy and fun. Then more people come in, you don't talk to citizens as much, and soon you're so busy just trying to keep things running smoothly for everyone else that you aren't even part of the loop anymore.

You need an administrative cabinet here. People who you can trust to assign work to and for them to get it done. There's other programmers who use Lucidia, why not sit down with them and discuss what you want to see in the future and let them help you out in making it a reality? You're taking way too much work upon yourself and it's just going to burn you out in the end like the Dream did to Schaeffer.

That being said, I'm on just about every night and you know my AIM. Feel free to vent at me whenever about whatever. I may be terrible at a lot of things, but I'm at least good for a different point of view.

Trick with getting other programmers who use Lucidia into the fold, as Karol and I discovered, is that while we all work with the same general tools... there's multiple ways to put two and two together to get four, and different trains of thought don't mesh well. I know that if I manage to get a weekend where I don't have a migrane or some such going down this month, we'll be way closer to forums. I have the roadmap for the code...

As for an administrative cabinet: that's a difficult one given my options, as this whole ordeal has been demonstrating to me.
