[It's a two-for-one special when the feed begins. The face in front belongs to a young man with dirty blond hair, aquiline nose and perfect jawline. And he seems to be shirtless.]

[The face peeking over his shoulder looks to be around the same age with dark hair and pale skin. Mostly ears and cheekbones beyond that. He's still stuck in one of ( Read more... )

[That has got to be one of the more fascinating calls for help he's heard across the data pad since he arrived here.

Sitting up and looking at the mixed matched pair, Charles can't help chuckling at them.]

Prince Arthur of where?

Here is the log.

I defaulted to prose but if you'd rather switch to action that is fine with me. :D Also I added Merlin to the "Who" in case they would like to jump in as well. I know how Merlin likes to keep an eye on Arthur! ;)

[It's getting eerie, how much total strangers know. Excalibur, for example. But that's not what catches Merlin's attention.]

The Lady of the Lake?

Ah, yes. Rather component element of the legends, though her identity and exact role varies depending upon which mythos you're studying.

Do you know many of them? The stories.

Oh yes! [He answers with a warm smile.] They're beautiful works of literature and the stories are a fantastic study of the growth of man from a superstitious to more analytic nature.

The poems are also works of verbal art in and of themselves.

I'd like to hear some of them sometime.

[Nevermind that they theoretically have more important things to worry about. But maybe this is a sign...maybe Freya is trying to help him again.]

Merlin. Looks like you know Arthur already.

Oh of course! They're wonderful fun to discu... I'm sorry, did you say, Merlin?

[Sorry but now he's starting to feel like his students, in coming face to face with people he knows but apparently doesn't.]

Charles Xavier.

That's right. It's nice to meet you...despite the circumstances.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you hear these stories?

A pleasure, ah, Merlin.

[As he says the name, its almost an unconscious thought to reach out and attempt a very discreet read of this man's mind. Just to try to get an idea if his belief about being Merlin -and the other man about being Arthur- is genuine or some sort of game.]

They're legends, where I come from. Practically every school child hears at least some version of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table.

[ooc: *shy wave!* I keep a permission post for Charles's habit of mental spelunking. He can't help himself some times but feel free to say he gets blocked out and/or control how much he can see and experience. Or give him the whole Merlin canon, he'll be such a happy geek for that! :D]

[There's no doubt of it. Flashes of knights and castles and dragons. Magic. A little bit of fear, fresh. Something ghostly and cold and screaming in the background.]

[And then Merlin's laughing.]

Even Gwaine? I'm not really sure his stories are meant for children.

[Oh .. OH! Now this is just fascinating and when he doesn't run into any blocks, Charles eases in deeper, carefully separating out their conversation from his mental treasure hunting within Merlin's incredible mind. Such knowledge and the power potential is enough to make him a little giddy.

His laugh, however, is in direct relation to the comment and thoughts about Gwaine.]

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is practically required reading for high schoolers in my time.

[Destiny. Now there's a word you'll run into a lot, Charles. And with it, Arthur - King Arthur at last, crowned by magic and his own life if need be.]

[Heavy thoughts for a skinny guy who has a part of his mind devoted to mucking out stables and hauling bath water bucket by bucket.]

The green knight?

[Merlin arches a brow. Percival? Elyan? They're all a little 'green', but good and loyal and brave.]

What're the chances that I might be able to read some of the stories for myself?

[The theme of destiny is not exactly a surprise, once Charles confirms for himself that this man is, somehow, the embodiment of a legend. The comments about mucking stalls and hauling water is a bit of a surprise which has Charles chuckling.

Everybody has to start somewhere I suppose the thought sent almost on reflex.]

I don't know if the libraries on this planet would contain the stories from the culture of another world. That's actually an interesting prospect, though.

[Merlin's expression changes in subtle ways: the corners of his lips, the blue eyes that suddenly seem a little more focused, the fluttering of lashes. It isn't the first time he's heard another's voice inside his head.]

Yeah...interesting.

[Was that you? Can you hear me?]

[There was a brief pause and then Charles's face lit up in a broad smile.

Yes, it is me. Ah, hello then.

He's spoken with a couple of different beings since arriving here but except for his conversation with Erik, nothing quite as direct as with Merlin. The younger man's clarity is fascinating.

If it bothers you, I can withdraw?]
