You're an intelligent girl, Claire, figure it out yourself. [ Back to the no nonsense education here. ] I don't know what else this Sylar can do, though I doubt it'd be long before you get the upper hand on him. You can't make the act personal if you don't try enough.

He can take the powers of other people. Even you. Back home, he'd have to cut our heads open and play around with our brains, but here... [She feels herself getting worked up over remembering, and has to ball her little hands up into fists to remember that being calm and focused is how to continue having this conversation.]

He can have any power he wants, so I have to be careful. Even if I get really strong and figure out the best way to get back at him, he's still able to hold me in place and there's nothing I can do about it.

But maybe if he's wearing the right things, you'd be able to hold him in place for me.

[ Though Erik kept himself steeled at the explanation, it's hard to shrug off the small changes in expression, the way his hand fists up just briefly, the slightest narrowing of his eyes at what Claire explained what Sylar could do. ]

I wouldn't let that stop you in any case. If he can hold you down, then just fight back harder.

[ He doesn't comment on his involvement with her fight; part of Erik is convinced she can do this on her own, part of him is simply curious into meeting the man first hand. ]

When someone holds you in telekinesis, you can't move, no matter how hard you struggle. I tried using the Force to shove him away, just like what we practiced, and it didn't even make him flinch. [She's very disappointed in herself for that one, and she realizes that she's on the brink of tears.]

Sometimes, it's not about fighting back harder, it's about manipulating circumstances so you're the one that has all the power.

[ Tears usually don't work on Erik, least of all with Claire, whom he had been hoping would be able to withstand the pain of this a bit more. ] Doesn't mean he's impervious like that, Claire. It just means you're not trying hard enough.

[ It's callous to say that, he realizes after the fact, but it's too late. Erik had already told her coddling wouldn't work. ] You can manipulate the circumstances all you want, but it comes down to what you can do yourself.

[Tears, however, especially from young ladies, work wonder on Charles. Well, that and the topic of conversation is near and dear to his heart.]

[With his words, she turns away, furiously wiping at her tears. She doesn't want him to be disappointed in her, because she looks up to him so much, but his words really cut at her and she can't bring herself to look at him.]

I don't know what to do. [She admits in a small, childish voice, and forces herself to look back at him. She sees Charles there, speaking to Erik, and tries to force a slight smile. But it doesn't work and she just looks like a hot mess.]

[ He turns his head to face Charles before replying. ] I know that, Charles. Unless you have a better suggestion for her?

[ Erik tilts his head, gesturing back at Claire, looking to meet her eyes. By all rights he should be comforting her, though that was Charles' at his finest, not Erik. At this point, she needed to hear this, needed to be aware of what standards to set herself at before Sylar would come back. ]

Things are private. We knew that already.

[Giving Erik a side glance with no real heat in it, Charles comes up beside his friend and hunkers down on his heels close to the German's knee, on a better level with the datapad.]

Claire, [he says in a soft, reassuring voice, attempting to draw her attention to him.] Take a calming breath. Alright, now tell me, do you believe yourself to be in immediate danger from this man.

[Oh yay, nice tones. She can respond properly to nice tones right now. She nods in response to him telling her to breathe, and then does so. And then she shakes her head.]

No, he has my power. It's not me I'm worried about anymore. It's everyone else. He's pretty much indestructible now.

[ Charles you do realize that's a rather awkward position to be in, but Erik will turn his attention back to Claire and the rather demanding revelation. ]

So then what? Are you telling me short of keeping him in a specialized container, killing him is no longer an option?

[Seriously, Erik. You can really pick your battles. Charles holds his thoughts for the moment, letting Claire respond directly to Erik's question.]

That's kind of why I wanted to bury him alive. But even then, he could figure out a way to use his telekinesis. And there's probably a lot of other powers he has here, since all he has to do here is drain the Force from someone to get access to it.

[She wants them to understand there's a reason for her paranoia, that she's not just being some dumb little kid with this.]

Back home, he was a serial killer. He would have even killed a little girl. The more powers he gets, the more he goes crazy, and the bolder he gets. And I wouldn't be so worried if he didn't have it out for my family, and if he didn't have some creepy weird interest in me. He told me he was going to kill my boyfriend and make me be with him. I have to do something, because I can't be sure he was just saying that to get at me. I can't let any more innocent people die because they're connected to me.

[ As far as Erik was concerned, it was a perfectly viable reason to go after him, though he looks over to Charles for his opinion before commenting.

Claire's concern for everyone -- her family in particular, resonated strongly with him, an identifier linking the two of them. ]

[Well that was definitely a story that would resonate with just about anyone with a heart or soul. Though Charles had to cringe inwardly, as the situation pinged about every single one of Erik's instincts.]

Claire, who has tried to stop this man to date? He's made these attacks, why has he not been held accountable for them?

[His tone is still low, soft and free of any judgement. He's just trying to build himself a complete picture here, not point a finger.]

Back home, my entire family has tried to. My adoptive dad, my biological one, my uncle Peter, my grandmother, even people in the company that they all work for. It's a company that tracks and...does stuff with people like us, people with powers. It's a really long story, and I don't even know all the details, but they're not people you want to mess with.

[She lets out a long breath.]

The Company has tried stopping him, and even if I hate them for what they've done to me, I know that they want to contain Sylar. He's been held accountable, he just kills anyone that tries to make him stop.
