Yay, a Nick post. Just the thing to entertain before I go eat lunch.

I loved your "[warcrime] of [thing]" comparisons.

YAY! Originally it was just the one war crime, but then I got about halfway in and realized I'd been calling everything a war crime, so I ran with it.

it takes a special kind of something to make war crimes funny. you really should write a book!

but no one AT ALL would read that one because they would get to the end of the first paragraph and realize that they had no idea what I was talking about, or what it had to do with anything, and how did the talking tuna fish get involved? Cutehead Charlie.

Perhaps I could introduce you to the works of Douglas Adams? Oh, wait, they're on your book shelves... you would just need a good editor that's all, someone who would rein you in a bit, like me ;-) Although, I think I'd need a rider on my health insurance for extra coverage for eye strain caused by rolling them too much...

Also, if you dont think anyone will read your rambling, check out "A heartbreaking work of staggering genius" Complete babble, completly enthralling.

That having been said: "but you can't get a Ph.D. in race cars." Clearly you haven't taken a good look at departments that are into cultural studies and the like. I mean, there are people out there who get Ph.D.s in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But, good move on your part. It need not be a permanent decision, but I believe it should be a firm one, if that makes any sense.
