River had decided that it was taking Simon far too long to go about having a conversation with Kyle on his own, and his anxiety on the subject of her relationship was really beginning to grate on her. So this particular morning, she waited outside of his room until he was ready to leave it. Then she took him by the arm and proceeded to lead him down to the cafeteria; unless he seemed to violently protest this action ( ... )

Kyle glanced up when he sensed River, and he grinned as he saw her shuffling Simon into the cafeteria. "Hello," he greeted Simon with a little smile. Extending his hand across the table to him, he glanced curiously toward River. "I'm Kyle," he introduced himself to the doctor.

"It's nice to finally meet you," he continued as he settled his pale blue gaze on Simon. Reaching out his other hand, he rubbed River's back softly before he tilted his head. "Are you sure he wanted to see me this morning?"

Simon might have hissed something to his sister about how she might have warned him, but then again he didn't think it would have worked. He managed a tight smile and accepted Kyle's extended hand, shaking lightly before releasing it.

"Hello Kyle," he offered as he sat, "I hadn't expected to meet you today, no, but my sister has a way of ... springing things on me when I least expected."

Throwing up on his bed, roundhouse kicking him in the throat, whatever got the job done. And now, apparently, she had added hijacking him to the cafeteria to that list.

"It's nice to meet you all the same," he concluded, though he looked more uncomfortable than anything else and not like it was 'nice' at all.

"With full explanation, there may not have been consent," River pointed out, unable to hide her giggles or her grin. "Needed consent. It is vital that familiar bonds are formed in the early stages of development," she confided in both of them.

Though she thought that she might be mixing that up with something. She thought about that for a moment, before she shrugged. It didn't matter, it explained her point.

"Simon is concerned as to the nature of our relationship," she informed Kyle, doing her best - and failing - to keep a straight face.

Then figuring that she did in fact want Simon to stick around and get to know Kyle, she turned to face Simon. "Perhaps you should steer," she said with a grin. "Is not my story."
