I just had a quite odd dream in which I was a waiter in a dirigible.

GundhildeVQ mentioned to me last night that she wanted to get a vanity license plate with some geeky psychological terminology on it. I began thinking about what vanity plate I could have and came up with TOGOBOLDLY . Back in Chicago. Although the last few months have been difficult both physically and emotionally, I'm currently feeling better than I have since late January. Wow, it's been a while since I've updated this. I've had a decent week. I'm working on creating a small database at work, and have found out that I enjoy working on the thing. Over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to teach myself rudimentary Visual Basic so that I can create even more impressive widgets.

My computer is being repaired on 32nd street and 5th avenue. I hope to get it back soon.

Only a couple of months till I start sending in applications to grad schools for my MLS. Right now, I'm leaning pretty heavily towards the University of Illinois since it'll pay my tuition if I attend. I need to start looking at job descriptions to see exactly what skills I'm going to need to learn ( Read more... )

I've started reading The Elegant Universe by Briane Greene. It's a book about string theory written for the not math oriented reader -- sort of like A Brief History of Time (although I  do recall that being a bit more technical). It's really interesting, and uses some very well thought out metaphors to describe things that would be terribly ( Read more... )

Google Maps and Google Earth are the most amazing pieces of software ever. I've already found a couple of mods on the internet that let me view an overlay of radar returns, apartments from craigslist and traffic maps. I could putz around with this software for days. It's far too entertaining.

This is running quite close to the 3rd anniversary of my Livejournal. Counting OpenDiary, I've been posting my thoughts online in some form or another for almost five years. Quite a while, I suppose, to be staring at my own navel.
