It used to be calm until the stupid smoke alarm started going off every time I turn on the oven or stove if I'm doing anything more complicated than make tea. Now I have to have the window open and my box fan and kitchen fan going full blast so the alarm doesn't go off and the noise those fans make is really loud plus sometimes it's raining or cold so I'm not keen on the damn window being open. Also I used to really like having the TV or podcasts on when I cook and I can't do that anymore because the fans are too loud for me to hear them.

I suspect I'm something in between. I've gotten faster as I've cooked more, but I'm still not as fast as recipes state I should be for their dish.

Of course. I've lived on the borders of several and wandered through others - in the USA only, though. I haven't seen the great deserts like the Sahara.

No, but my oldest nephew-in-law has a spectacular one.
