At the moment I am at the airport, heading to beautiful Columbus, Ohio for the World Fantasy Convention. I had been waffling about attending, due to some issues with the program and communication by the committee, but I really need to be with my people right now ( Read more... )

It would be wrong to say that I enjoyed the funeral, but some word that lives in the same general territory but served with a whopping big helping of sorrow would be a useful addition to my vocabulary. Kate would know the word, whatever it is, probably in German.

If you have not yet seen the topiary garden in Columbus, it would make a fine expedition: http://www.topiarypark.org/

Also, if you go to the corner of Broad and High and look at a medium-size bronze plaque on the State House grounds, you will see the monument to the memory of the unknown Boy Scout. I went there on at least two dates when I was in high school.
