Oh, I feel old. I remember watching that special on TV when I was a kid. Now I can't listen to her - her voice drives me nuts.

Personal request--please please please get pix and give me a full report on the Palio! Ever since I read Marguerite Henry's book about it (Gaudenzia, Pride of the Palio), I've been fascinated by it. And if I could give you some $, would you pick me up a Catherine of Siena medal? She's always been one of my favorite saints....any woman with the ovaries to say "Be a man, Father--go back to Rome!" to a 14th-century Pope is pretty impressive....

Plus if you ever feel inspired to try a mountain writing retreat, I'm getting enough connections in Wallowa County that I might be able to put together an impromptu one....
