Summer... You Fine Son of a Bitch

Jul 23, 2005 12:08

It's surprising the amount of people I've talked to that have explained to me that their summer is not going so well. I'm not gonna lie, I am really enjoying mine. I'm getting a lot done, yet am not over working my self. I've been staying in good shape for the running season, and have been working out about 5-6 days a week. I am reading a few ( Read more... )

dave. you sound brainwashed. i had an experience with the Leadership Challenge Cult Camp Club or whatever the fuck it's called, and i came out very depressed. the kids there are not going to be the "leaders of tomorrow," or anything like that. the personality color cards are absolute bullshit too. you can't categorize people with colored cards. well, i guess you can, but it won't work. i'm glad you met some girls there, but still. thinking that the people that use four colored cards to characterize personality are going to be the future leaders scares me. a lot. sorry if that came out pessimistic.

Barry Jive... Sean Lachut, right?

I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. Dividing people into color groups sounded to me like the stupidest idea in the world. I dislike discrimination. But somehow, it worked, and it turned out to be a positive form of discrimination. Somehow, I began to accept these colors, and I actually saw progress. The only problem is, you have to make sure there is no "color bashing" and you have to make sure that defining "your color" also helps to bring out your other colors that may be weak. Knowing that I am an orange brings out the gold in me, something I severely need to work on. From now on, I think I'll be more aware of when I'm late to where ever I'm traveling. I was worried about a brainwash too, and I'm still not positive yet about the whole thing... but I think these colors may be a good idea. I trust the people who came up with the idea.

Dave... sorry to completely disagree with you on this one, but I'm with Sean here. First off, those colors did not classify me. Try to classify me with one of those colors. The test couldn't: three way tie between blue, green, and orange. Well, maybe Sean and I just entered the whole thing with a somewhat less than positive attitude about it, but it really didn't seem like much was going on at all that had any point to it.

Heh, Mrs. George gave our class that test too. I was green. But I've totally got to agree with Sean, they're mostly bullshit.

Well, I listed about a quarter of what those colors stand for. Additionally, at camp we further explored them in detail. So me writing about them in my LJ doesn't really do any justice. And the point isn't just to have one color, but there is usually one that is prominent. And James, yours would more than likely be green. We actually got a book, and answered some questions.

Don't try to tell me what I am, Dave. If there's one thing that really pisses me off, it's people that try to group me in with everybody else.

amen to that. keep on rockin' in the free world, and other colorful clichés to that effect.
