Why is it that the nights I stay up the latest, I wake up the earliest the next morning?

Law of averages - by the time you die, you'll have to meet your lifetime average for time spent sleeping. and this is your body's way of keeping you from meeting a terrible doom.

Has to do with sleep cycles - your body knows there isn't time to do all of the stage 2/REM/slow-wave, etc. So if you're not going to go all the way through with it, you're effectively just taking a quick nap. Or: only doing one cycle instead of two. Something like that.

Also: late night, eh? *nudge, nudge*
