I wear flip flops a lot, but they've been given me blisters due to the fact that I walk a lot to get around. I guess we all walk a lot to get around, but in my experience "city living" makes you walk more. Went to Silver Spring.  Took me over an hour on public transport (and I'm only like 3 metro stops from it).  The walking was far and in a baddish-section of Maryland.  Not bad-bad, but not someplace I want to walk late at night.
