My tv has just switched off. It just blanked out. No picture.. nothing. I think the tube is burned out. I asked someone what this means.. they told me that it means i need to get a new tv. Gah

what's yer budget... we bought a new tv last christmas? and we did plenty of research.
It's all about budget.
High end = $2500 and up Low end = 200 - 800
We went mid rang and spend 1500 canadian money... about $2.35 US hahaha...
but we noted that the Gao (Panisonic) and Tau (panisonic) were dark... too dark... they sell you on it with space movies but anything else seemed too dark for my liking.
Every time we made the sales guys put two tv's together for us to watch a single dvd source on, the Sony Wega came out on top.
HDTV (HiDef) is too "early adopter" still and way expensive... all tv's will be HDTV in 6 years so there will be plenty of movement in that market between now and then, so we stuck to 32 inch, flat screen and GREAT PICTURE (with "component-IN") as requirements and went from there.
A month after we bought it... I was wishing it was 36"... primarily because of the way letter box dvd movies look ...
but still I LOVE MY SONY.
:D ps. I got my hernia (operation and all) lifting that some-bitch.
Go with a Tosh. They make their own tubes and cram features into them for little cash. When myold Mitsubishi died, I got a 27" Toshiba, which was the only one under 36" with the DVD component hookups. It was about $500.
That said, it was about 2 years ago. The lower end ones now are probably crammed with more features.
