I made two different kinds as a "hot and cold":

A "Mexican Hot Chocolate" inspired cupcake (o.m.g. yummmmmmm!) Chocolate cake with Cinnamon, Ancho, and Cheyenne flavored, nutella-based frosting. Bittersweet chocolate shavings and ancho on the top

and

A "Peppermint Patty" inspired cupcake
Chcolate cake with dark chocolate frosting, laced with peppermint liquor and with crushed peppermint and a candy cane "straw". I will try to post the pictures.

Oddly enough, the guys didn't have much to say about the cupcakes, but the mac and cheese (although I found the pasta to be less al dente than desired) was the big hit.

Go figure.

Kevin says that he liked the cupcakes, but doing something less unique and more familiar like plain chocolate and vanilla would have been more up these guys' alleys.
