[237, Friday, 3:30 AM and Beyond in Time and Space, I]

Mar 02, 2007 03:29

Toward the end of the first watch of three that they'd agreed on last night, Krycek had exchanged several emails with D's annoying friend Ben, made a phone call and was just about to get himself another cup of coffee when he noticed a wee sound coming from the other side of D'anna's door.

He glanced around, but Molly was sound asleep on the top bunk, so it wasn't her. Janet was dozing on the couch in the corner, which left the list of people in need of picking D'anna's door lock completely blank as far as he was considered. He picked up the closest weapon at hand, an empty coffee mug, and switched off the light to wait for what would come.

Trona

Trona had handwavely slipped through the school's security, probably thanks to looking like a student, and found the location she'd phished out of Ben's email - Room 237, Fandom High, Fandom Island, Virgina, USA, Earth.

"Mother frakking Earth." The woman mumbled under her breath as she worked on the door lock. "Frakking figures. I can't get one that goes to some posh private school off on one of the moons or up in the Leonis hills. No, I get one that goes on wacky adventures and winds up on a place that isn't even supposed to exist. Ah, there we go."

The door to 237 swung open into darkness. She stood up straight and stepped through the doorway and felt along the wall for a light switch.

Krycek

Krycek was there, and swinging the coffee mug to hit in the head whomever dared to interrupt them in D'anna's room as they sat vigil.

Trona

"OUCH! SON OF A BITCH! WHAT THE SODDING FRAK WAS THAT FOR?!" The woman completely lost her cool.

Krycek

Krycek rushed her, crowding the woman up against the wall and pressing an arm to her throat, his other hand clapped over her mouth. "You broke in here," he said, voice a low growl. "So explain yourself before I call security."

Trona

The woman bit the hand pressed to her mouth.

Krycek

Krycek swore, pulling his hand away and shaking it as he continued to hold her against the wall, glaring. "Cute."

Trona

"Thanks." She smiled contritely, in the dark. "Better think how you're goin' to explain the dead body to security first love. Now let go of me."

Krycek

Scowling, he pulled back, looking at the stranger through the darkness - she seemed familiar, disturbingly so, and though that didn't alleviate his wariness it did make him curious as well. "Fine," he said, stepping back a little. "Who are you?"

Trona

"Name's Trona." She got right to the point. "Where's the girl?"

The point as far as she was concerned that is.

Krycek

"What business is it of yours?" Krycek peered at her again, his eyes widening when he realized why it was she seemed familiar. "Who are you?"

Janet

Janet hadn't been able to sleep since the yelling started, but now seemed like a good time to speak up. "D'anna's not dead," she said, getting up to go and check on her. The woman's voice sounded--there was something about it Janet couldn't place. "Not yet. But she's in bad shape."

Trona

"I'm a friend. A cousin of sorts. Any way to get some lights in here?" Trona shrugged in response to Krycek's question. It was close enough to the truth for now. "Who are you people?"

Janet

"We're her friends," said Janet firmly. She didn't want to leave D to get the light, just in case of...anything happening.

Krycek

Krycek sighed and flipped the lights on, squinting slightly at the sudden glare. "I called her parents and a friend of hers, but I don't remember ever even hearing about a cousin," he said, giving Trona a wary look. "What are you here for?"

Trona

Trona surveyed the room as they spoke. There were two more exits that she could see, a door off to her left and a window. She didn't want to use the window.

"I'm here for the girl." She gave Krycek a look that indicated that she quite possibly thought he was rather dim. "Someone has to get her... 'help' before things get worse."

Janet

"If you're her cousin," said Janet, standing and turning to face Trona and Krycek. "Then you should know her name. And if you do know her name, you should be less callous. How can you help her?"

Trona

"Which name?" Trona smirked. "As for helping... Without me, when she dies? Which is, oh, about any minute now, ducky, your girl's gonna stay dead."

Janet

Janet's eyes narrowed, and her mouth tightened. "The only name she has," she said. "And trust me when I say that I know exactly how close to dead she is. Which would be why I asked how you could help. The medical technology available to us on this island can't do anything."

Trona

"That depends on who you talk to." Trona was still smirking but she didn't look amused. "No, honey, you don't. She dies here and there's nothing that can be done. She goes with me and there's a chance she'll live."

Molly

That was when Molly hopped off the top bunk and walked up to Trona. She stood there, hands on hips, and studied the stranger carefully.

"You look exactly like her," she said quietly before crossing her arms over her chest. "You promise you can make her better?"

Trona

"You're a bright one." Trona looked Molly up and down. "I can't do anything but try. Time's running out. If she isn't far away from here when her body gives out, she's looking at something worse than death."

Molly

Molly nodded once and turned to pick D'anna up as gently as possible.

Janet

"I'm going with," said Janet, grabbing her medkit. She didn't want to speak for Molly and Krycek. "I have to make sure she's okay."

Molly

Molly stood up with D'anna in her arms. "Whoever is going, we need to leave now," she said and headed for the door. She looked at Trona. "Where?"

Trona

"Beach. Far side of the island." She wasn't thrilled at the idea of taking more people with her than necessary but she had to get going. Plus, if they went with, they'd make less trouble for her now.

Krycek

Getting the door for Molly, Krycek shot Trona a look, not exactly thrilled either - but for D'anna to have some sort of chance, he was willing to go along. "Let's get going," he said, echoing Molly.

Sam

Sam was totally minding her own business, eating an apple, as she walked right smack into the small group.

"Um, hi?" Janet with her medkit was never a good sign, and she couldn't help noticing D'anna's condition. "Need a hand?"

Trona

"Not unless you can fly a space ship sugar." Trona glared at the delay the others knew as Sam.

Sam

"Today must be your lucky day," Sam said sarcastically, "but you'll have to wait for me to leave a note and grab a few things. Do you have a spaceship, or am I building one?"

Trona

"..." Trona glared a little more and stomped off. This was not what she'd had in mind. What started as a simple rescue mission was turning into an entourage.

Molly

Molly stopped long enough to explain to Sam. "D'anna's dying." She indicated Trona with a tilt of her head. "She said she can save her. She has a ship down on the beach, but we have to go now."

Molly started walking again. "If you're coming, please be quick," she said over her shoulder.

Sam

"I'll meet you there," Sam ordered, already running down the hall toward her room. Luckily, the door was open, but it didn't look like she'd have time to stop at the weapons locker before they left.

She grabbed a jacket and left a hastily scribbled note for Jack, then raced towards the beach.

Trona

Trona was even more out of sorts than she had been when she broke into the nearly dead girl's room.

Not only was she plus one almost corps, but there were four teenagers keeping her from retrieving said almost corps and getting the frak out of here.

She stomped across the island to the beach on the far side as quick as she could, occasionally looking back over her shoulder to check that they were still following her.

She'd just done so when she almost stomped over a blonde girl in leather who looked...

Callisto

A lot like death warmed up actually. If you were focusing on her face rather that the dagger she'd pulled the second she'd seen Trona that is.

Trona

"THE FRAK?!" To say that Trona was displeased would be an understatement, because she was nice and sensitive like that. "Get out of my way."

Callisto

Callisto? Not so much with the moving. Or with the putting away daggers. "No."

Molly

It was about then that Molly reached them, still carrying D'anna. "We need her Callisto or D'anna is going to die. Please get out of the way." She barely slowed down as she continued on toward the beach.

Callisto

Callisto lowered the dagger, slightly. "You trust her too much and you might all join D'Anna."

Sam

Sam came running down the beach, a bit short of breath, and stopped to blink at Callisto for a second before she remembered that D'anna was...not doing well, and that she'd have to stare later. "You coming?" She asked over her shoulder as she went to see what kind of ship she was dealing with.

Trona

A few paces off sat the ship Trona had arrived in, a cylon heavy raider.

It had six guns on the front and really big hatch opening in the back with room enough for ten giant walking chrome toasters of death. Homey!

Trona tried to sidestep the crazy blonde with the dagger and head towards the ship.

Callisto

"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't." Callisto stared at the woman, who barring the ridiculous hair was even more of a Xena-clone than D'Anna, for several seconds more before putting the dagger away. "Pull anything, and I'll gut you," she said dully.

Trona

"Always nice to have someone looking out for me." Trona said sarcastically and opened the hatch on the back of the ship. "Come on you lot, we've got to go. And I mean right the frak now."

And with that she tromped off into the dim shadows beyond the door.

Sam

"Okay, so this is new," Sam was already up to her right elbow in goop, looking at it with disgust and muttering. "I miss crystals. Stupid levers and gears. Why put them in if you're not going to make them usable?"

"Where the frak is the on switch?"

Janet

"I..." Janet came up to Sam and looked around, perplexed. "Oh, hell, you already know I'm hopeless with this stuff. Uh, hi."

Molly

Molly set D'anna down and tried to make her comfortable. "Get that girl in here and she can show you as we go." She looked forward to where Sam and Janet were. "Please, Sam," she practically pleaded. "I don't want to watch anyone else die."

Callisto

Callisto leant against a wall so she could keep an eye on Trona. "Good luck with that."

Krycek

Krycek glanced outside the hatch one last time before pulling it shut. "No one's going to die," sounding a little disgusted at his own wording before looking around. "At least we've got a chance to make sure she doesn't, so if anyone messes that up I will personally make sure they're not on the return trip."

Trona

"Get comfy, it's going to be a bumpy ride." Trona flipped a few switches, gave some instructions to Sam, and placed her hand into what looked like a square pan of lit-up goo and the ship took to the air.

A few second after that, they were soaring through black sky and then jumping through it. Literally hopping from one quadrant of a galaxy to the next in flashes of light with a few moments between each jump.

Janet

Janet moved to go and examine D'anna. "She's--holding on." She sank down on the floor, sitting near D and letting her head thunk back against the wall. "I hate this part. The waiting is always the worst part."
