I just got a Pro, and while I'm not sure I needed all the bells and whistles that it has over the regular MacBook, I'm pretty damn happy about it. If you don't plan on doing anything graphics-heavy, you don't need a bigger screen, and you don't care about being able to say "OMG my computer is made of aluminum!!1!," the non-Pros are pretty sweet, too. My advice: if you've been thinking about it for a while, you're not going to regret getting one. Oh, and be sure to mention to the web site/store that you're a student for a 10% discount.
Nope, not a student any more. Though I am an employee of the U, so i get the same discount. I've been thinking about going refurbished anyways, since it is cheaper.
I'm terrible at recommending things; I don't know what you might need to know. My favorite feature on my old G3 and G4 ibooks is exposé. Also, the ability to make é, ö, º and å with simple keystrokes is high up there.
If you have any questions let me know. I am fairly fluent in the OS. I can't really afford a new one, so I don't have much to say about them except that I hate the glossy screens and wish every model was available with the option for matte.

I like the aluminum chassis, and I'm a big fan of larger screens and back lit keyboards. The price difference is just so huge!!!
