Sorry, I'm a noob. :( dc_anon March 21 2011, 02:16:56 UTC
I was actually looking for this option from the beginning but didn't know what it was called until you mentioned it.

Thanks for your help!

First of all, yay for a DCU meme that's still active!

Second, in regards to helping the meme grow. My brain doesn't seem to want to actually write at the moment, so I was thinking of other ways I could help. :D

Things I've seen work elsewhere are banners for pimpage, mini fests and fill-a-thons. There might not be enough members yet to do a fill-a-thon, but you could always try fests - maybe something based on the time of year (e.g. a summer theme, whether it be frolicking on a beach or suffocating under the city heat) or something themed around a certain character/family/canon. For the latter, say you chose a fest themed around the various Robins past and present, you could reach out to the various comms themed to all the Robins (e.g. robincest), the individual Robins (e.g. we_love_dick), or pairings that feature a Robin (e.g. timkon). You just decide the time period you want the fest to run over, giving yourself a little time beforehand to get the word out - for instance, say you want the fest to run for the last two weeks of May, use the first two weeks ( ... )

Boredom is good! For being "pretty terrible at graphics" these are actually quite lovely. I'll definitely have to see about using them. ^_^

As for posting in other communities, I could certainly do that! A fest also sounds interesting, though I'm not certain I'd do one right away. (I kind of want to see the regular prompts that people are coming up with at the moment & also gauge whether or not plain advertising is working without extra incentive.)

Thanks for your banners & suggestions! And sorry about the laaate reply. -_-0

Yeah, I totally understand waiting on the fests until the meme has a more steady traffic and existing prompts are getting fills. Makes sense.

As for advertising in other comms, if there are any specific characters, pairings or canons you'd like banners made up for (like, if you want to pimp in a pairing specific comm), let me know. ^___^

If you're looking for an assortment of comic communities, you could check the profile of the watcher LJ for comicstore-news - being a comics newsletter, they're watching a good chunk of the fandom. Of course, it's not all DC-related, but there's still a lot of options.

Hello!

First of all, I love that this meme exists. I'd love to see it grow a bit, so I'll happily volunteer my talents to make a custom banner (and a partial theme; I can't make a complete one, but I can customize a theme like mine) for the journal, if you'd like to jazz it up a bit. The one at my journal is an example, as well as my other journal, der_letzte_kuss :)

Ooh, that sounds awesome! I hope the mod considers taking you up on that offer!

Sorry for the late reply, I've been kind of busy with RL and forgot about this for a little while. ^_^0

Anyway, if you're still interested, I'd be more than happy to have some custom stuff for this meme. I see that your journals are very nice looking & that'd be really cool for this one too.

Just a note - I posted a prompt just now, and apparently the default settings on this community have been changed and now anon comments will stay screened until you manually unscreen them. Might be something you want to fix. :)

I certainly didn't change the settings for the comm, so there must have been some glitch in LJ. I'll fix this ASAP!

Cool, thanks for looking into it. LJ does have a habit of 'fixing' things for the entire site without taking into account that different people use LJ in different ways and don't want their defaults messed with.
