Hooray for the Preamble

So Jack is all moved in. He bought his first cell phone and he'll start school in a couple weeks. We spent a couple days buying groceries and putting furniture together and a couple days touring Philadelphia. I had never thought much of the Liberty Bell, but it was pretty cool. We saw the place where the Constitutional Convention met and the ( Read more... )

I think you would probably make a great lawyer. What a turnaround, though - two months ago it was *something* international!

I had always wanted to go in that direction, but I kept quiet about it because my father had always said that he would never accept a child of his becoming an attorney. His brother is a lawyer and they haven't been on speaking terms since I was in junior high. Dad's job is to investigate and try to settle people's claims against the railroad. A lot of people who sue the railroad are represented by jackass lawyers trying to squeeze the company for all it's worth. Dad always thought that if my brothers or I were to go into law we would become the same sort of sleazy attorneys he is always battling. That's why I never so much as mentioned it before. The day Dad came up to move me out last quarter he said that it would be okay for me to study law, so I've spent the summer thinking about it. I'm so uncertain of everything. I'm not sure what I want or what I'm capable of, and that scares the hell out of me.

I donno. I check my email every couple of days, but that's about it. The computer in my room is broken, my school computer is in boxes for the summer, and I don't like using my parents' computer. I'm in Claremore for another couple of weeks and I owe you a cup of coffee. Are you at NSU this year or are you still at Rogers?

And speaking of your boys...I like Penny and Me. Thought it might please you to know.

Baby steps, Melissa, baby steps. Hey, I bought the 'This Time Around' single. *gets out lighter* "In this liiiiife long looove song..." I think the chorus's rhymes of long, song, wrong, and gone are a tad hokey, but dammit Melissa, I've liked that song ever since I first heard it through the air vents at the Golsons' house. Hahaha. Remember that? When was that? Seventh grade?

Awesome. I'm glad you're back at NSU. I leave for school on the 13th, and I would be more than happy to come down to see you if you have time to spare. I haven't been to Tahlequah in forever and I freaking miss you. It was kinda funny--near the end of last year when I would play "There's More" my roommate would say, "Oh that's Melissa, isn't it?"
