My two cents, for the record

First, I'm going to start by saying that I don't ever WANT war. I do not think that all death in war is for a reason, and I believe that death in general is a tragedy. However, I can not agree with the standpoint that this war is putting ourselves in other people's business for no reason. I would also like to point out that Bush is not the first ( Read more... )

1. Hitler and Hussein are non-comparable. Hitler was loved by his people, making him infinitely less susceptible to an overthrow from within his own coutry. Hussein is not. Hitler began a systematic genocidinal extermination of several specific ethnic groups. Hussein is not.

2. Whether what Clinton did was right or not is absolutely up for debate. Debate leads to conclusions. Conclusions lead to change. 6. So, this last point was a bit of a side note for me. All talks of senselessness aside, America is going to war and people are going to die. I'm just saying people should have the dignity and respect to say, "Well, it's happening but at least I'm not going cos I don't respect the beliefs of this country right now." My last paragraph was supposed to be something universal, not divisive. Regardless of your beliefs at this point, regardless of how senseless you think it all is, some people disagree and they might die for it. Here's the image I have, maybe this helps clear things up: a man on a battlefield, dying, and someone comes up and whispers in their ear, "You're useless. You died for nothing. You wasted your life. How's that make you feel? To know that you didn't make a difference." All I'm trying to stop is the post-Vietnam "baby-killer" thing. I'm not saying we should start the kids on propaganda now cos a lot of them are going to die or anything. These people are going to die quite independently of what you ( ... )

This war is an illusion.

The debate is somewhat identical, all the refutations are about midway down in my comment.
