After reading that I'm still like "WTF?" Because you still haven't thought things out. You're always excited about things before you start them; you almost never finish things because you don't continue to be excited.

L. says - why don't you volunteer at a forestry place? internship? to see if you like it while you finish your Master's?

This is good info to know. I was actually considering studying the math and science to do a masters program in Forestry at Berkley.

For now, I would like to take the classes to gain a basic skillset. I believe that the curriculum they teach there is geared more towards natural resources in general. Perhaps, however, I do not need the entire two year program.

I have seen many jobs advertised on governernment websites regarding national parks management in various areas. They appeared to pay between $30,000 to $60,000/year with benefits, and only some of them required a masters degree. Is there something I'm not understanding about these jobs?

the government always pays more than private jobs. but i'd assume 'national parks management' is actually managing a national park.
L. makes a little over 30$ a year, with benefits. it's really not as much as it seems - it's barely 20,000 after taxes - minus rent, food, transportation; then repaying loans.

i think you're more interested in seeing trees and being around them than you would be in forestry, per se. Why don't you graduate, get a job in film, and then work towards a forestry degree if you still want it? meanwhile, volunteering or part-time working or something?

I AM going to graduate. Did it sound like I wasn't?

I don't want a job in film, unless I'm working with or for people I already know and like. I'm working on pre-production as a producer on Amber's independent film. That is the kind of work I'm willing to do in film. If we're lucky, we'll get paid a small salary while we work on the film. If we're luckier, we will get profits because the film will sell somewhere (even if it's just in the Czech republic). More than likely, we won't make any money on the endeavor, so really, a forestry job, even at $10/hour, makes more money and will more than likely be just as emotionally rewarding.
