It's hard to believe, but when I was in Birmingham a month ago, I actually found a place with good shawarma, and the tabbouleh was good, if not incredible.

Who'd a thunk it?

I have to be careful of sodium. Was just recounting for Cathy whilst grocery shopping yesterday that my grammar school comfort food was popping my own popcorn and heating Campbell's Vegetable Beef soup for myself as an afterschool snack; add an Allabout Book- heavenly.
Can't do that sort of thing anymore.
Must spend more time cooking soup.

Grilled cheese sandwich w/Top Ramin, pot roast, steak, spareribs 'n spinach (a family dish), chicken & pork adobo... I can go on and on. :-) Carnivore am I.

I never cared for Tabbouleh, but then maybe I've never had it done right.

Come visit me and I'll take you to Open Sesame here in Belmont Shore. They understand all about tabbouleh including that it is supposed to have lemon juice in it and everything else they make kicks butt too. Technically they're a Lebanese dining experience, that may be the key.

There's a persian restaurant in Van Nuys that has killer Iranian food as well though I never can remember what to order so they alway have to help me. And last but not least, the Kabobs Place (I think thats the name) also in Van Nuys or maybe it's NoHo on.. Burbank blvd not much past Cahuenga I think - and they have kick ass feta and kabobs, marinated meats, a deli, etc.. and those funky middle eastern candies too.
