Trip 2 to the Catskills

So this year we've done Summer in the Catskills, and now we've done Autumn. The weather in New York is so frustrating- it seems like it's beautiful all week and then rains every weekend. Don and I headed up to see the colors before all the leaves dropped, but the nicest day we could get there was still 100% cloudy. Oh well, it was still really ( Read more... )

Yea, it was. It's silly because until I actually went and visited the Catskills, I used to complain all the time that I was stuck out east while all the beautiful mountains and deserts were out west. I have officially put my hiking boot in my mouth.

We decided not to bring them on this hike for a few reasons. It was cold, sometimes crowded, with high cliffs everywhere. And Don gets stuck watching them while I'm changing lenses every few minutes. We're going to take them hiking somewhere on Sunday if it doesn't rain...

Do you ever take Gir out hiking?

Where'd you leave them?

We haven't taken her out hiking, but then we haven't done any hiking. We're going up to Richard's parents' this weekend and she loves to run around for hours with their black lab, so I'm sure she could handle a hike.

We just left them at home, we were only gone for a few hours, not camping or anything.

Thanksgiving is going to be crazy w/ the lab, Gir and the boos!

Beautiful! I'm so jealous; I miss Catskills. Did you make it to the upper tier of Kaaterskill Falls? It's quite impressive. Since you said it's been raining though, I'm guessing they blocked the skinny path to the upper tier to prevent erosion and people falling to death, lol.

Don went to the upper tier, but it was a zoo there, so I stayed on the bottom waiting for people to move long enough to get a shot. There were so many little waterfalls on that creek that by the time we got to the Kaaterskills I was just like, whatever. lol.
