DAYSHIFT 54.
- [Awakening] In which Alaric is continually haunted by his wife.
- [Cafeteria] Alaric meets his first fellow patient, a girl named Anise. Since the institute is still in its hospital -> military transition, he is understandably confused. Anise gives him the scoop on the food fight that happened that morning, as well as a super vague warning. She came across as weirdly dualistic, especially for someone her age.
- [Greenhouse] The history teacher meets up with the vampire who ruined his life. It's kind of a tense meeting, considering Alaric was busy worrying that a stupid werewolf was going to kill Damon and Damon was wondering what the hell Rick is talking about. It's extra awkward because Alaric is currently on the cusp of considering Damon a friend, and Damon is... not. Also, he mentioned Katherine. In retrospect, it was kind of a bad idea. And some crappy explaining about the sun and the moon curse, Klaus, and Damon killing Jeremy.
- [M17 - Dinner] ALARIC MEETS INDIANA JONES be still his beating heart. This is important because Indiana Jones is basically everything he wants to be. ohgodhessocoolandcollected. Indiana confirms all the things he heard from Anise and Damon, pseudo-preparing him for...
NIGHTSHIFT 54.
- [M11-M20 Hallway] Alaric takes his first step out the door, only to trip and drop his flashlight, breaking it. The [parasite] event has begun, starting off a train of bad luck that's going to get worse on out. Furthermore, he gets to know he is safely roomed near Damon, which kind of confirms the whole bad luck thing. Crap.
- [West Wing, South Hall 1-A] Alaric brushes the whole "monster" subject and successfully manages to fail at walking. He touches Damon, triggering the first instance of his [parasite] effect - reliving another person's memories through touch.
- [Main Hallway 1-West] Damon fully undergoes reliving one of Alaric's memories: specifically, his reaction to the moment when Katherine coerced Jenna into stabbing herself. Since Rick is Rick and Damon is Damon, he doesn't press what happened and they move on.
- [F-A Block Hallway] Damon threatens Alaric to stay mum about the stuff he knows that Elena doesn't - mostly because Elena doesn't have positive reactions to her flashbacks. Nothing new, and Alaric accepts the reasoning.
- [F21-F30 Hallway] Alaric and Damon make it to Elena's room, who has a flashback to one of the most mortifying moments of Alaric's life. They quickly shuffle to an empty room to save Elena's roommate.
