Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis is a piece of trash.

It has been a long time since I've read such ignorant reasoning and blatant unintuitive blabber...

... I'm sure it has been since I heard Phillis Schlafly...

Them's fightin' words... to my dad. I think that was what really converted him, actually. Is it un-cool to like the lion/with/wardrobe series? Cause I was all about that when I was 13. When I found out it was all an allegory for being dead and in heaven it blew my mind.

I get back from Russia tomorrow (tues). You guys will have to drink some Russian pepper vodka with me when I come to atl.

I think the worst bit is the argument-by-lack-of-imagination at the beginning. The worst bit that I got around to reading before I lost my respect for CS Lewis, anyway.

Some acts are clearly and obviously Morally Reprehensible, and the only way for them to be universally and objectively so is if God exists and considers them wrong.

The idea that maybe different human societies just aren't that different, that perhaps we live in a world where certain modes of behavior are effective for group living, thus generally encouraged, isn't even considered.
