I may have possibly missed this. And if I did, I do apologize.

But I was curious how language barriers were going to be handled? A lot of characters will, likely, be from Japan or an English-speaking country. But for those oddballs who aren't, I was curious how to go about that whole ordeal.

A good question!

For the sake of keeping things neat, everyone will be able to understand one another. The reason for this is due to the "revival" process and a specialized shock to the brain (while your character is being "revived"), leaving your character able to understand other languages while in Igura.

A bit cliché and straightforward, we know, but we felt it was neatest to keep it simple!

Hope this helps!

Alright, makes sense!

And haha, that's completely understandable. It helps a lot and thank you for your time and help, mods!

Two quick questions! For a character who is a vampire, and can't go out in the sun without being burned/dying, how would that work in Igura? I'm assuming they would just, as in canon, only be able to go outside at night?

And how would they go about getting blood without attacking people? Could they steal from a hospital? Are there animals around?

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere! Thanks in advance.

Great questions!

Igura is largely overcast, where it's somewhat bright, but no sun can be seen. Whether or not you'd want your vampire to burn in this sort of weather is up to you. There are no hospitals in Igura -- well, at least, functional ones. There's probably a run down one somewhere around, but the blood kept in there might be less than satisfactory! There are some animals, like rats and crows hanging about. The sort of animal you'd find in any city setting -- you wouldn't find cows or horses. However, they could always offer tags in exchange for blood, or services, if they rather not attack others to get it!

Hope this helps!

Hi! I'm not sure if this has been addressed in the communicator post (I read it twice today and I still may have missed it), so... question!

Would it be possible to send texts anonymously? Like, what if my character has texted someone and that person already knows that my character texted them. But after that, my character wants to text the same person something but would rather conceal his identity. Would that be possible?

Yes! On the network, all communication is, by default, anonymous. Figure it to be something like the internet - if you don't make it clear as to who you are, it's just like someone posting something anonymously here on LJ. It's possible to make it so people know who you are, though the network encourages anonymous interaction to bring about underhanded behavior.

As for phone posts, the answer is also yes! However, it's the opposite in approach - normally it's obvious who is texting or calling, but your character can rig it to be anonymous. You'd just have to throw 'ANON' in the subject line for clarity, in phone posts.

Hello! I have a question about the one object allowed to come with the character. I'm thinking of apping this guy, who is a wizard, and so his one object would obviously be his wand. But it can (and in Tom's hands, often does) double as a weapon.

So my question is, would he simply be unable to perform offensive spells? Some spells are not usually used offensively but easily could be (such as the Vanishing Spell which can definitely be used on animals and probably people, or an unnamed spell that shoots arrows out of your wand). So would intent matter there?

Also, how harmful or direct should the spell be before it's considered "like a weapon"? There are some spells often used in dueling that don't actually harm the other person (such as Rictusempra which cause uncontrollable laughter, or Expelliarmus which disarms the opponent) but make it very difficult for them to continue to duel. There are some spells that don't affect the other person directly but affect another object (such as Oppugno which causes recently conjured ( ... )

Excellent question! Wands really do fall into a gray area when it comes to being weapons!

For the sake of the game, we're going to say that yes, offensive spells would not be able to be preformed with the wand. However, he would be able to use it for other things, such as Rictusempra or Expelliarmus! So long as they don't harm the other person, it's technically not breaking the rule of "no outside weapons" in Igura! Plus, a wizard with a wand is just plain interesting!

Basically, spells that won't harm anyone are totally fine! Spells that would harm people or people through objects would be unusable.

So creativity is go! :)

Awesome, thank you!

I actually had another question. regarding magic. Could magic be used to duplicate tags/food items/other items? Not right away, obviously, but if he were there a while and had most of his magic back. HP universe magic laws state that food (and probably money) can't be conjured out of nowhere, but it can be multiplied once you have some (money only temporarily). And Tom would definitely try to cheat the system if he could.

Also, is teleportation possible?

I'm so sorry for all the questions omg.

Don't worry, we eat questions for breakfast! Om nom nom nom.

We're going to go and say yes on that count! Because you need 52 different tags in order to "win" and duplication basically suggests you're copying a tag you already have, it's totally possible! You can't "win" the game with copying the same tag(s) over and over, but your character can use it to his advantage inside the game, which is ... well, interesting as heck! Which is what the "creators" of the game are really looking for -- interesting play. Same with food items or... what other things might be found around Igura.

Yes on teleportation as well! At first, though, and for a while, short distances would probably only be possible.

I HAVE A QUESTION RE: THE GAME TIME SETTING, which is-- is it possible to change the way it is run? Because I've been talking to a few other people who share this concern, considering the pace of the game seems to be pretty laid back/relaxed! I realize asking this might be too presumptuous and apologize, but rather than have 1 rl day = 1 in-game day, it might be better to have the days run by players in a chronological order per post? e.g. Character A posts in the morning of day 5, the next post would be the evening of day 5. This way it means we don't have to worry about how our characters got food without wasting all their tags/hoboing it up for this... past week... as well.

Of course this is up to you, and I definitely don't want to tell you how you should run the game! But I wanted to ask since it may be easier for how a game of this initial pace is run. :B

We're totally cool with changing how time runs! We weren't sure how the game itself would turn out, so we picked 1 rl day = 1 game day because it seemed simplest at the time, before it was put into practice! We'll bring it up in the OOC comm for further discussion soon!
