[Compile] Yumichika, Chizuru, Nemu

Chizuru shook her head at Yumichika's words, pulling out the bandages as she eyed his shoulder. Definitely the worst of the lot. "You call this a LITTLE trouble?" she asked, lifting up his arm so she could bind his shoulder. "What kind of life do you LEAD, Yumi-chan?"

A soldier's life, perhaps?

Chizuru looked up from his wounds to stare at the face of her friend. It was hard to believe that he could be a soldier. He was so pretty (and vain)...you'd think he would hate anything that would threaten his perfect complexion. And he was so delicately built. He couldn't be a soldier.

And yet those wounds, and the memory of his face on that day...no, Yumichika was a fighter all right. There was no question about that.

"Seriously, Yumi-chan," she said softly. "What kind of life do you lead?"

Yumichika winced at the movement of his shoulder, not realizing how tender the skin really was. His opponent hadn't merely been a match or him in looks, but in speed and talent as well. Needless to say, Yumichika was more than a little impressed with his prowess.

"Ah," Yumichika hesitated at the question. There were a lot of answers for that question, but there were only a few that would really, really work in this situation, for someone who had become a friend in more than one sense of the word.

He shifted his arm in Chizuru's grip, face growing almost solemn at the thought, "A fighter's life." He offered her a soft smile, "That's what I've lived all my life to have."

A fighter's life. A FIGHTER'S. Not a soldier's. Not a warrior's. A fighter's. That's something a gang member would say, right? A soldier would say he's a soldier. He'd have too much pride to say he was just a thug. But gang members, gang members were proud of their thugginess.

Tatsuki had to be lying. There were no spirits and no supernatural war. It was just gangs. They overran Karakura town; it made perfect sense.

But why would Tatsuki lie? She could rationalize everything else, but she couldn't figure out that. Tatsuki wasn't a liar. A butch chick, but not a liar.

"What sort of fighter?" Chizuru asked, swallowing heavily as she continued to mechanically bandage her friend. She was just dancing around the real questions.

Unohana... Dead? Nemu was in shock after hearing Momo's broken voice relaying the news. She stopped still, one hand lifting to her throat. That was impossible. How could...? What were they going to do with her gone? She'd saved them so many times.

By the time she broke her paralysis, the others were all gone- even Hisagi. She'd stared after him, part of her wanting to follow him, not wanting to be alone after hearing this. But he was probably heading off to fight, he didn't need...

Instead she turned and started walking blindly away, not even sure where she was going herself. Her mind was completely blank. For the first time in more years than she could remember, she found herself unable to completely hold back her tears; one or two slid down her cheek.

That was how she suddenly heard familiar voices, and felt a familiar reiatsu. She looked up, catching sight of Yumichika's dark hair. A girl beside him appeared to be bandaging him up.

"Ayasegawa-san?" she whispered. It took her a moment before she was able to find her voice to speak again. She swallowed and lifted her hand to absently scrub at her face. "Are you all right?"
