Can I pick your brain?

I am eager to explore new and different surfaces to make art on or, at least use as a backing. I've tried the traditional things.......panels, wood, etc. I'm thinking non-traditional. Anyone ever tried anything like this?

ive painted, sculpted, etc on:
model magic
wire background (self formed, chainmaile, woven, etc.
silk shirts
frames
smashed pottery
felt

other cool things:
phones, speakers, cop peices, old eletrocis
oars (rowing type)
lampshades
large fake plant leaves
bags (canvas, paper bags, w/e)
old books, book covers, magazines
cans tins cansiters, pitchers bottles and the like

i really enjoy starting from a normal/traditional medium and building it up 3-d with nontraditional methods.

I've always thought a series of portraits on the metal tops/bottoms of frozen juice containers would be cool. Smallish, metal, round...all intrigue me.

rocks! smooth, rough, flat, not...heh.

glass! painting, etching, engraving then painting...ooooooohhhhh. Got a dremel tool?

can't wait to hear about your experiments!
