I have been painting and every time I get on the ladder I fear the whole thing will come down on me drenching me and my freshly painted walls in paint.

Yikes! That sounds like a dangerous situation and I'm glad you weren't hurt. And only "ALMOST" all of them missed you? So some of them didn't?

I do have to say that my reaction would have been similar to yours upon finding the spider.

One caught me a nasty wallop across the left knee and the leg attached thereon; It's turning into a most impressive bruise but luckily it's long skirts or trousers or at least opaque tights season so won't be noticed

I have a LOT of spiders in my house at the moment. I have taken to dusting with my little portable gtech hand vacuum. Also I have decided cats crunching unsuspecting arachnids is a truly horrible noise...

I wish my cats would crunch them but they are not in the least interested! I tend to ignore them unless they are in the bath or in the bedroom in which case they have to go! I wait for The Boy to catch and evict them; mind you after that I used my handheld Dyson for the first dust of all the shelves.. just in case
