The only opera I've ever seen from beginning to end is "La bohème". Since it was performed in English, I enjoyed understanding every bit of the story... and the beautiful music.

Some operatic music is amazing .... but yes, hearing it in a foreign language is pretty difficult. I remember at school we studied "Carmen", but as we did it over a complete term we listened to it in Italian, and then in English. Great music, and at least i do know the story!

I love opera, and have been to a few, but honestly, I'd rather listen to select songs and arias than sit through a few hours of something that I might not like the storyline. But I do love Maria Callas, Pavarotti, Jussi Bjorlund, Maria Frena, etc. Just certain songs and arias. And I haven't gotten my vision checked but I do know this...my astigmatism has gotten worse. I am as blind as a bat to begin with. I do not eat pumpkins LOL either.

I love a lot of classical music - comes from being part of an orchestra for years.. Some of the overtures are lovely, as well as the arias.

I am short-sighted ... started when I was 8. But having had surgery years ago I am losing the sight in that eye now. I have also now been told I have cataracts starting.

:(

I thought all American ate pumpkins ... thought it was just me being English that I didn't like them

Oh God no I hate pumpkins. I can tolerate the seeds roasted and salted, but not the flesh of the pumpkin YUCK!!!

Well my eyes were okay although I'm sure I inherited my parents' nearsightedness. But when I was in 7th and 8th grade, I had anorexia, an eating disorder, and my eyesight got REALLY BAD really quickly because of the lack of nourishment. However it stayed the same for many years as I wore contacts, and now, I'm sure because of my age, the astigmatism is just getting bad. My dad had cataract surgery when they caught it very quickly on, and it worked...he only had to put a few drops in his eyes for it at night.
