It is stunning - and then you realise that it is the longest in England, and how old it is .... Stunning

What a beautiful cathedral - they did an excellent job with the elephant, but I think my favourite might be the carved minstrels' gallery.

That gallery is totally amazing. My plan next time I visit is to take my other lens and get some close-ups of those musicians.

The pulpit is called "The Martyr's Pulpit" and the scenes are all Bible Stories, except for the one I showed a close-up of .... That panel depicts Bishop Patterson & shows three islanders placing his body in a canoe to return it to his ship. Patterson was murdered in 1871 on the island of Nukapu in the Solomon Islands. He was the first Bishop of Melanesia, where he devoted the rest of his life to the people and learned more than 20 of their languages. I was amazed how they had carved the nose ring.

I love cathedrals. I was lucky to see many in Europe, like the one in Cologne, Notre Dame, etc

When you realise that this building was built 900 years ago (some of it is 1,000 years old) ... and it's been bombed, yet it is still here. It is a truly amazing building.

Which just shows you how well-built it is compared to modern buildings which fall apart on their own without good maintenance these days!!

We have a few buildings that are ruins, in England, and yet even though they are odd walls, they are still standing ... certainly not built by modern contractors
