I was chatting with a (male) friend about the Catholic church opposing the removal of statute of limitations on child sexual abuse in CT. and just got SO frustrated! Lol, what privilege?

Your friend's argument is so ridiculous and blind I can't even get into it. Hang in there and take whatever time you need. Interacting with people who don't get it (in this case, men) can be draining.

I didn't turn up a stellar resource in a quick bit of googling on my lunch break, but fact- and statistics-based evidence of the gauntlet people making accusations of sexual abuse have to run may help open his eyes.

I've seen several references over the years that indicate the vast majority of false accusations of childhood sexual abuse are brought forward by adult relatives or acquaintances of the child, people who have plausible motives to discredit the accused (e.g. divorce and custody cases).

what i don't get is, how does having a statute of limitations prevent false accusations? it doesn't.
