today was my first day as a substitute teacher. i don't even have to begin to tell you that this is nowhere close to something that i want to be doing for the long-term, but it went surprisingly well. i taught a 4th grade class. lots of comments:
- i love that you're subbing. do you have to get some sort of training/license for that? are you working for the public schools?
- i can't stop laughing about the baby tooth falling out
- i'm so proud of all of your post-grad ventures
- finally, where do you get trims? im trying to ween myself off of homemade haircuts and am seeking a stylist.

i'm glad that you reminded me that all of my odd jobs post-college are adventures (sometimes i forget and want to back in school already. after all, how many people get a free, huge cake from their work? also, i am seeking a stylist, too! i need to get a trim. i went to vain last time and didn't think it was anything special. have you heard anything good about bird's barbershop?

my boyfriend has a friend who just started working at bird's and seems proud of it. but neither cody or i have had her (or anyone at bird's) cut our hair so I really can't say much about it. I also think they were reviewed in the daily texan but havent read it.

I just made an appointment yesterday with Jen at wet (a friend recommended Lindsey at wet, but she wasn't available so the receptionist sent me to Jen). I will let you know how it goes!

sorry that was all sort of worthless and confusing.

OK i'm so coming this weekend, i'm sorry i haven't called you back, i caught some sort of nasty cold (or black lung) from the kids at starbucks so i've been hibernating. your sister won't call me back so i can't coordinate plans with her, but i'm coming regardless. stop putting cigarettes in cats' mouths!

why did you end up doing the subbing thing? i told you you hate kids! i think you should wear really over-the-top yet in-dress-code outfits to school and be the wacky weird teacher they remember forever...
