The summer I left Reed I read Lolita. I read The Magic Mountain the summer after my freshman year.

I drink alone fairly often, I agree that it feels less pathetic than being sober alone. I think the ideal is that when you feel pathetic and lonely you make an effort to find some human contact rather than get drunk, but sometimes that doesn't happen.

Good luck with job hunting it is one of the suckiest things to do, especially knowing that if you're successful, you end up having to give up all the free time that you haven't been able to enjoy while you were unemployed.
