I used to read, among piles of other comics, a handful of manga. My favorite among them was Beck, a fun bit of guydrama about an no-name indie rockband trying to be something bigger than a no-name indie rockband. It had a few scattered traditional guymanga tropes such as DRAMATIC RIVALRY and and LEVELING UP, but it for the most part managed to stay

There's an anime of that. I remember watching a couple episodes a long ass time ago.

I saw it and enjoyed it even if the japanese-spoken english dialogue was hilariously bad and the music ended up being rather bland. It essentially faithfully follows the manga up 'till vol. 11ish.
