If the listing was on craigslist and it was too good to be true, i am pretty sure it was. I ran into a few of them and they always asked for credit reports. Regular people really don't ask for it. Good luck on the search.
i've seen so many scams on craigslist and kijiji when i was looking for an apartment in may. they clue is the long life story and the bad english. though bad english is rampant nowadays. i don't think it'll turn into something, but i'd just keep an eye on my bank accounts and credit cards online. i wonder if you could search it on the internet or something to see if there's any info about people using credit reports to screw you over somehow.
anyway, you'll find an apartment. you've got lots of time! living with your sister for a year wouldn't be too bad -- it'd be less lonely until you get to know more people. then you could always move out the next year.
thanks guys! Yeah, this one got me because the ad AND the reply actually sounded very professional. But yeah, I'm keeping an eye on my accounts and stuff and so far so good.
