Laos has been absolutely THE most beautiful place I have ever visited. The landscapes is incredible, the people are lovely - so laid back and kind. Nobody hassling you or trying to rip you off. It has been untouched by many of the evils of tourism but I fear that cannot last much longer. Vang Vieng was by far the most breathtaking ( Read more... )

The morning before we left Vientiane we had to go to the U.S. Embassy to get more pages inserted into our passport....The stamp into Lao took the last pages in each of our passports....Crazy, huh? 5:15am and the alarm was sounding. I am not a morning person. At all. However, after a very long 19 or so days I was more than ready to leave Vietnam. Contrary to what I'd been told Phnom Penh was NOT the scary, dodgy place filled with guns, violence and drugs that I'd heard of. I mean, of course, there were all those things there, but no much more than anywhere else.....We spent about 3-4 days there, wandering around the city a bit and seeing some sights. We just got back from Kanchanaburi. We ended up staying an extra day we were enjoying ourselves so much. We did a good bit of trekking which was really nice....I've been craving some physical activity. My muscles were burning in the best way possible. There was a 7 tiered waterfall that we hiked up which was beautiful. Each step had pools perfect ( Read more... )

It's been about two and a half weeks that we've been in Thailand now. We started off with a couple of days in Bangkok and then headed down to Koh Phangan.
