Something about women who have been fashion models complaining about being fat and being criticized for having bad hair days makes me feel awful. The fact that they talk about feeling so pressured to be perfect all the time makes me feel like I've missed something not to have worried about those things more seriously. Hi Kelsey,
I hope you and yours had a great Christmas/New Year. I have a friend that is a model. HE is very annoying. Although, I have never heard him complain about being too fat or having a "bad hair day". (Kelsey Harris 2006) My model friend has been quite sucessful. He measures this in how much he HAS. Example: His cars, house, collector guitars; I must add he can't play a lick and is not a famous race car driver. Nor is he a famous architect. He is a good person and friend at that. I do find it comedic to tease him and mess up his hair when he's around. I also have to add he has earned what he has acheived. But it's funny when you see your friend in a fashon magazine at the doctor's office. Especially when he lives a block over.

:) xmas and new years were good, despite some culture shock on my part. i was pretty frustrated with the people i was with, but you know - your well grounded wisdom is oh-so right; despite some philosophical disagreements (i'm afraid i'm never really going to worry about my hair or weight - unless I'm unhealthy, which is something different altogether) this woman is my friend, and i'm happy to know her.

and Happy New Years/Xmas to you, too! How were your holidays? I'm sorry I didn't ask sooner - I hope everything is wonderful with you and yours. :)

done and done - darling, you have nothing to hurt over! your essay makes me proud to count you among my friends! not that i wouldn't be proud if you weren't such a socially responsible science wiz-kid (ha!), but the fact that you are makes me even happier to know you. *hugs* good luck!
