I'm not really ready to go. But my flight is scheduled for this coming Monday. That makes tomorrow (Friday) finals day, Saturday is departure prep day (all day long... dear god so much to do), Sunday is moving out of the dorm day, and Monday will contain my final few hours in Tokyo (for now).

I've decided not to waste my time studying for the final ( Read more... )

Welcome Home! (almost)

And you still have time to grow up. My coworkers are still teasing me that I'm just now starting to grow up now that I'm getting a house by the end of the year.

And I still want to go back to Japan someday, but I think I've learned I'd do better there as a visitor rather than a resident.

When I spent my semester in London, I was sad to leave...but at the same time happy to get back to family and friends I'd left behind.

As for the resume and job hunt. Just keep at it. And see where people you know work and if you want to work in the same business as them. It's a ton easier to get into a place if you know someone there already who can help you get your foot in the door. (Otherwise you really are a faceless name on a piece of paper.)

But good to hear you're coming back and stuff. /wave

This is something I've kind of been dealing with as well. It's an interesting change that's going on from our parents' generation to our own. I've seen a lot of people from the previous generation, my own parents included, who were rushed into building their careers, finding a spouse, and working their way into retirement at that magic age. With longer lifespans and social security in the state it's in, our generation won't have that luxury of retiring as soon as we hit 55 or whatever retirement age is. There's really no reason to rush out into the workforce since no matter how early we start, we're still going to have to work well beyond retirement age just to support ourselves. Take this time to relax, work for quality and not quantity, and the rest will take care of itself.

I think I fall into the other category of those that didn't rush into anything...since I'm still single, just now getting around to getting a house...to me work is a job, the fun is the stuff you do outside of it.

But at the same time...I wonder if I'll ever find a spouse, have a real career or even retire...I might just work til I'm dead.

But at the same time, a steady job is a good source of income to allow one to do all the 'fun' things while still young and single.

I actually disagree with this type of thinking. No offense to you, we just have different outlooks ( ... )

I dont' think our outlooks are all that different, when you get to the detail level and don't look at the generalized statements ( ... )

Holy crap, lucky woman!

Let me know how the food is. I know it's weird, but I'm seriously in love with airplane food.

That's funny, because more often than not airplane food makes me want to vomit. And I always manage to pick the less edible option on the menu while my neighbor enjoys a restaurant quality meal. I originally came in on a first class flight, and the food was just decent, but there was a lot of it and a really good variety.

And you get champagne while everyone else is hustling into coach and fighting for bag storage space. XD

Hello ,
My daughter is leaving for KCP on July 4th . She will be staying at student housing Mizono Kuchi. Can you give us any idea of what the housing situation and food situation is like? Do you have any tips on how to do well in school and how to get the most out of the experience. Is is hard to make friends? Did you get lonely? Did you enjoy the experience?

As much ifor as you can give us eill be appreciated.
Thanks, pat

I'm sure by now, if you even read this, that you'll have no use for it seeing as it's July 16th... But just in case ( ... )
