Day Something-Or-Other Plus Infinity
So, quick recap of the past month or so since I've been too lazy/busy to keep this up:
I was moved to lunch service on Garde Manger because the two people who were working it before me were too slow and incompetent. They both got moved back to prep cooks, and now I work 9-5 during the day setting up the Garde station and working the Grill/Saute ( Read more... ) -
Day 8 (9, 10)
So, got super sick with some stomach stuff this week. Ended up getting cut on Friday 'cause we had so many people on line anyway, then Saturday and Sunday I was just too sick to go in. We had the same amount of coverage as we did Friday, so chef said it wasn't a big deal. Still felt like a great big loser, missing out on the busy nights to work ( Read more... ) -
Day 6, 7
Not much time to write, so this might be a quick one.
Worked the past two nights from 1pm 'til. Tuesday was pretty slow. We have a private room upstairs where we can host parties or business dinners (and it has its own butler's pantry!), and Tuesday we had a small group of eight up there for a presentation and food. Yay, Michigan?
So, about where I'm living. Tiny little town. So tiny, in fact, that even with the very limited number and variation of people I've meet in the two weeks I've been here, I can't go out into town without seeing someone I know. And I can't get lost. I've tried. It just doesn't happen.

I'm not really ready to go. But my flight is scheduled for this coming Monday. That makes tomorrow (Friday) finals day, Saturday is departure prep day (all day long... dear god so much to do), Sunday is moving out of the dorm day, and Monday will contain my final few hours in Tokyo (for now).
