It's a really hard place to be in, definitely. I think you have a talent for organizing that can be useful; I'd advise you not to study anything you're not balls-to-the-wall passionate about or think is a solid career with a good moneymaking future.
College is a good time to involve yourself in creative writing club or writer's groups.
In the end... do your best, and apply for more scholarships, grants, and loans. If your parents are unable to help you, that's going to make it more difficult, but not impossible. Do your best.
When I'm set for the financial issues of this semester, I'm going to see my new academic adviser on exploring other classes (maybe I'll do two minors) and calculate the process to graduation.
